Customs Clearance at Karigasniemi – Norway–Finland Border

Karigasniemi (Rv 92) is a road border crossing between northern Norway and Finland.

The crossing is used for commercial transport between Finnmark, northern Finland and the European Union.

If you are transporting commercial goods through Karigasniemi, the customs documentation and Digitoll information should be prepared before the vehicle reaches the border.

Every day: 07:00–20:00

The crossing is therefore not open for customs processing 24 hours a day.

Commercial transport should be planned so that the vehicle reaches the customs office during opening hours.

Digitoll at Karigasniemi

Commercial road transport entering Norway must comply with the applicable Digitoll requirements.

Transport and consignment information should be submitted electronically before, or at the latest when, the vehicle crosses the Norwegian border.

At border crossings with Finland, the driver must report to the customs service counter.

The driver should have the relevant customs and transport references available.

For goods exported from the EU, the driver must also be able to present the Finnish/EU export document, for example as a barcode.

if the goods continue under customs supervision to another destination in Norway.

Example: Finland → Finnmark

A Finnish company sells equipment to a customer in Finnmark.

The truck travels through northern Finland and crosses the border at Karigasniemi.

Before the vehicle reaches the border, the customer sends the invoice, packing list, CMR and vehicle information to TollAgent AS.

At Karigasniemi, the driver reports to the customs service counter and follows the instructions from customs.

NCTS and T1 at Karigasniemi

Karigasniemi can also be used for goods travelling under an NCTS transit procedure.

If the goods enter Norway under T1 or another transit procedure, the relevant MRN must be included in the Digitoll information.

The transit can then either be completed at the border or continue to the agreed customs destination, depending on the procedure.
